Focus: Analytical Challenges in Comparative Research and practical implementation of
working with multiple datasets
• understanding electoral choices within various contexts
• linking datasets about voters, parties, manifestos, medias and countries
• multiple item measurement & the building of composite measures
• ‘stacking’ datasets about electoral preferences and choice
• research strategy of the ‘True European Voter’
Participants
• young scholars (working towards a PhD or post-doctoral researchers) and early stage
researchers from the Data and Methods Working Groups nominated by Management
Committee members of COST Action ‘The True European Voter’
• PhD students participating in the Marie Curie Initial Training Network on Electoral
Democracy (ELECDEM)
Format
• lectures by renowned senior scholars
• hands-on training with datasets used in comparative electoral research
• presentations of original free software tools by their authors
• discussions within small interactive sub-groups
• consulting with the instructors about participants’ own research projects
